From what I read in the patch notes this patch is going to suck ass big time for a lot of players simply because some people don't choose pvp not because they are "care bears" and prefer the sanctity of high sec space. Some don't do it for the simple fact that they either don't want to participate in that part of eve or, like myself, they simply don't have access to a decent connection to participate in that area of the game. So they do missions and build stuff or support their corps through logistics. As a 5+ year dual account holder, I have enough Sp's to insta pop a planet and I'd like to PvP. Unfortunately my connection wont allow it as it is satellite based and I have no other option available. And to those that say move to where I have a better connection. I say give me the fracken money so I can otherwise SYFM.
By forcing this on every player in eve isn't going to bode too well for a lot of CCP's clients. For them the so called "path of least resistance" is going to find a game elsewhere to their liking. Who ever thought this snafu up must not have been sober or was smoking some really bad chronic when they decided to ran rod this idea down everyone's throats. Kinda like the health care bill that was recently shoved down our throats in the states. It was not very well thought about.
CCP may have just shot them selves in the foot with this one. Which is too bad. The reason I stayed so long is because of the diversity the game had for everyone. It had a lot to offer its players. Now with this "you will fight or else" mentality CCP has taken, I choose the "else" It was fun but now I gotta look else where for my entertainment. I hope CCP pulls their head out of their ass before they lose too many of their clients. It is poor business to cadre to one group of people. I get the distinct feeling CCP is competing against wow by turning it in to a fight only game. That's what turned me off of wow in less than a week. I got less than a month to go on my accounts If I don't like it or I lose too many ships because of this forced to fight mentality the game has been turned in to CCP will lose at least 2 accounts.......

Soo, Will planetary production / mining get nerfed too when a system is experiencing an incursion?

Originally by: Crazy Dave Edited by: Crazy Dave on 20/01/2011 16:41:20 I can see the issues that people are having with their character recreation. I have to concure that a lot more could have been done to make it better. However I was able to make it work and came out with something I halfway like. Unfortunately I see a lot of people shop at the same store I did. I hope that this is a work in progress issue and that as updates are made to the creator, we will be able to update our characters accordingly until the last touches are made.
I like what was done with the PI and real glad that Operation Click Fest finally came to a successful end. That we were all able to achieve or goals with only our fingers complaining. However, although a minor thing. I wish I had realized that one extractor had 10 heads on it. Which is a HUGE plus. I'll have to wait 14 days for the restart process so I can't comment on that yet.
My main issue I have is with the incursion nerfings and seemingly forced pvp/e issue. My connection will not let me participate in PvP. Let me rephrase that. I can but I will explode before I know what hit me. My connection is satellite based and as such I have to send a signal 40+k miles up in the air and another 40+k miles back down causing lag issues. Verizon wont open up any DSL or Fios lines out where I live. Leaving my only option 56k dial up. I think that incursion encounters should not be nerfed system wide. Just in random localized areas where the fight is. If its in a belt, at a station, planets and moons. Then that is where the nerfings should take place. For those that can not participate in the incursion either by choice or otherwise, missions and other areas should be left unhindered or at least randomized better without nerfing the entire system or penalizing those that wont or cant participate for what ever reason. I am hoping this issue will be addressed and corrected to show recognition that some people can't PvP rather than wont.
Trust me I do want to PvP unfortunately atm I can not. When the day comes that I can there are going to be a few dozen pirates that I will be paying a visit to. Yes I keep a hit list at home for the right day to come along. In the mean time I am content with co op transporting, mining, building, exploring and mission running. All good things come to those who wait.....Eventually. Or so i was told anyways
From what I seen, I like, especially with the PI. Is the retriever 24k gold or is it plate?
I too have the same issues with regards to the nerfings that occur system wide. I also have a bad connection that makes PvP unenjoyable. If I PvP I lose. Period. And its not due to wrong fittings (sometimes that is the case). It is lag related issues. Last time i did a ping I got 1038ms of lag. Where I live I have zero options available. All my stuff is satellite based right down to my phone. When all these penalties that occur I will be forced to either dock or log off for a few hours to give the incursion time to pass. If it is too frequent to the point that I am not getting my monies worth out of it then I will seek my entertainment elsewhere. I hope CCP does take that issue to heart and make adjustments accordingly.....

I disagree. It's not realistic to change your physical appearance on a regular basis. Your hair style/color, clothes, and such will be regularly re-customizable in a future expansion (Incarna I suspect).
I think being able to update all aspects of your character should be do able. Especially when this Incarna thing hits us. In regards to physical shape of the body, people do get in to shape or out of shape all the time. Although not shown daily. It should be allowed to be altered through whatever types of food stuffs might become available after incarna or if that is left out then a once a year option should be granted. As for clothes there should be a great deal more offered for sure regardless of race specific. If clothing was only available to certain people based on their race there would be riots in the streets protesting it. At the moment the creator shows promise for improvements. I only hope CCP answers the phone. because I am tired of answering phone and hearing the 80's say they want there glasses back. as for clothes I see everyone is shopping at the same store I do. My choice in style must be "in".

One of the things that caught my attention quick was when I heard in the video that incursions was designed from the ground up to be excruciatingly hard to dis wade solo pilots from going in. It was designed with the sole intent that it would take a massive fleet to destroy. Which is similar to what you might see in 0.0 space if you were in a large fleet going to attack another corp. You need to have all manner of ships with special abilities to do different things. Not just come in swinging. Granted they are NPC's but you got to approach them as though it was a PvP situation. Since the damage delt by them might already be known, the devs came up with operation nerf them all and let the shansha sort them out approach to it. Soooo you are now fighting with a handicap to encourage "team work" to defeat the shansha. If you approach it like you would a PvP encounter it might go easier. Set up a large fleet mixed with tacklers, repairers, heavy hitters, smaller ships to pop their smaller ships. Go at it from all levels. As for me and my crappy connection....I'll watch from a safe distance.

I am experiencing problems with detecting incursions on my star map. I have cleared my cache, made sure the correct setting was active which was "incursions". As well as made sure I was not on the solar system map lol. The only thing I saw was a star map full of gray colored solar system dots. I was told in local that an active incursion was taking place in Deltole. Is anyone else having this problem? Is CCP exercising their sinister sense of humor by setting it up so that us jump in to a system completely unaware of it being invaded

I wonder if the sansha are ignored if they would either spread their influence by occupying other systems like a disease or if they would simply hop around after x amount of time passes with no aggression being made towards them. be interesting to see what happens. I know what to expect when they show up.....Me buying a new ship in the market. I foresee prices rising real soon as more and more people lose ships to an impossible to win scenario. Which is fine by me as its more money in my pocket.

The Sansha Incursion kinda reminds me of the no win scenario in Star Trek. What a way to pop a few egos that thought they were impervious.

Edited by: Wolf Spyder on 05/05/2011 16:37:04 With the advent of grossly over powered ships released in the incursion expansion, For use in high sec systems, would it be too much to ask for CCP to create a pocket titan (similar term was used to describe certain battle ships in ww2) this pocket titan can instapop anything up to a battle cruiser. Ships of larger sized would receive a damage based on distance from the ship.
